At least seven people, including a police constable were killed in several road accidents in Natore, Sirajganj, Chuadanga, Magura and Naogaon districts yesterday.
Our Natore correspondent reports: A schoolboy was killed in an accident at Banpara Bazar in Baraigram upazila.
Banpara Highway police outpost Officer-in-Charge Fuhad Lohani said Jahedul Islam,15, son of Lutfar Rahman of Diyarpara area under Banpara municipality died on the spot while a passenger bus rammed into his motorcycle around 10:15am, leaving him dead on the spot and another injured.
Sirajganj correspondent said a police constable was killed and four other police personnel were injured in an accident in the district.
The deceased was identified as Mostafizur Rahman, son of Asbor Ali, hailed from Godagari village of Shariakandi upazila under Bogra distict.
Police said the accident occurred in Nalka area when a Dhaka bound truck hit a police van patrolling in the area leaving Mostafijur Rahman dead on the spot.
Abdul Gani, Sub Inspector of Sirajganj Highway police station, confirmed the incident.
Chuadanga correspondent said a man was killed in an accident in Dhamurhuda upazila.
SI Azizur Rahman said Abul Kashem,40, died on the spot when a passenger bus ran over him in the area.
Magura correspondent said a woman was killed as a truck ran over her on the Magura-Jessore Road in Arpara area.
SI Oaziar Rahman of Magura Highway police outpost said Rahela Bagum,55, wife of Moshlemuddin of Goarerhat village under Shalikha upazila died on the spot as the truck ran over her while she was crossing the road.
The police arrested the truck driver.
Naogaon correspondent reports: Two people were killed on the Naogaon-Rajshahi Highway when a truck ran over them.
SI Zakirul Islam of Naogaon police station said Firoz Hossain,40, a rickshaw puller and Abu Bakar,20, a truck helper died on the spot when the truck ran over the rickshaw.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue.
