The Bangladesh Navy Ship (BNS) Abu Bakar has left naval base BNS Isha Khan of Chittagong city for Langkawi, Malaysia to take part in six-day Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA-2015).
The exhibition will begin on March 17 and will continue till March 22.
The frigate, led by its Commanding Officer Captain M Mahmudul Malek, with 17 officials, 11 apprentice officials and 172 crews, left the naval base’s jetty at around 12:30pm on Thursday.
Chittagong Naval Region’s Commander Rear Admiral M Akhter Habib and other high officials of the navy were present at the ship’s departure programme.
A press release of Bangladesh Navy said USA, Russia, Bangladesh and many other countries’ navy ships, fighter aircrafts and defence officials would participate in this big exhibition and rehearsal of ordnance.
Maritime and space relating seminars and fleet review would also be held in this exhibition.
“The diplomatic and friendly relation with Malaysia, Myanmar and other countries would hope to be more developed by the exhibition and the courtesy visit,” said the release.
After completion of the exhibition, BNS Abu Bakar would go to Yangun Port of Myanmar in two-day courtesy visit programme while it scheduled to return into the country on March 31, it adds.
