New dates fixed for March 3, 4 SSC exams

Update : 10 Mar 2015, 11:58 AM

Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations for March 3 and 4, which were suspended due to the ongoing nationwide general strikes, will be held on March 20 and 21 respectively.

Deputy Chief Information Officer Subadh Chandra Dhali endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday afternoon.

He said: “The SSC and equivalent exams for March 3 and 4 will be held on March 20 and 21. Besides, Wednesday's Dakhil exam has been postponed.”

“We will fix new dates for March 8, 10, 11 SSC exams while exam for March 1 will be held on March 14.”

The government rescheduled the examinations because of the ongoing nationwide general strikes called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

The BNP-led alliance has been observing the strike since February 1, protesting the “killings, mass arrests, and torture” of party activists, and the “restoration of democracy.”

This year, around 1.5 million students are taking part in the SSC and equivalent exams.

The government and the guardians of examinees have called upon the BNP and its partners to call a hartal, barring exam days, but that call has never been heeded.
