Hours after his detention, police released Advocate Tajul Islam, counsel for Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in war crimes cases, yesterday night.
Shishir Munir, a Jamaat lawyer, told the Dhaka Tribune the arrest was the result of a “misunderstanding.” The acting DC of Motijheel Division of Police, Anwar Hossain, said Tajul was arrested following a crude bomb blast in the Paltan area and was released soon afterwards.
