Navy officials have detained 22 people from the outer anchorage area of Chittagong port while they were attempting to travel to Malaysia illegally.
The detainees include 15 passengers, three traffickers, and four boat men, according to a press release issued by Bangladesh Navy.
Navy’s Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS) team chased the engine boat carrying the passengers, sensing its suspicious movement, and detained them from the outer anchorage area around 12am on Thursday.
The detainees will be handed over to Potenga police, the press release stated.
