Khaleda's arrest warrant upheld

A Dhaka court has upheld the arrest warrant issued against BNP chief Khaleda Zia in two graft cases.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge's Court 3 of Dhaka passed the order in absence of Khaleda on Wednesday afternoon.

Kamaruzzaman review petition Thursday

The counsels of condemned war criminal Mohammad Kamaruzzaman have said they would file the review petition, challenging the Jamaat leader's death penalty, on Thursday.

Tajul Islam, spokesman of the defence lawyers, said they would file the review petition on Thursday, the last day for filing the petition.

Oklahoma House passes bill to use nitrogen gas for executions

The Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday allowing nitrogen gas as a means of execution, a measure that comes after a troubled lethal injection last year raised questions about how the state executes inmates.

The bill, which passed by a vote of 85 to 10, authorises nitrogen gas as an alternative form of execution if lethal injection is found to be unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court.

Iran: Obama's 10-year nuclear demand 'unacceptable'

Iran rejected on Tuesday as "unacceptable" US President Barack Obama's demand that it freeze sensitive nuclear activities for at least 10 years but said it would continue talks on a deal, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Iran laid out the position as the US and Iranian foreign ministers met for a second day of negotiations and as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stinging critique of the agreement they are trying to hammer out.
