A Jubo League leader has been shot dead at Mirikpur Bazar of the sadar upazila in Lakshmipur.
Police recovered the body of Arifur Rahman Farhad, 35, from the scene at 8am on Wednesday.
He was the son of Nurul Alim Master of Mirikpur village, and the joint convener of Jubo League's Bhanggakha union, confirmed sadar upazila Jubo League Joint Convener (East) Mizanur Rahman.
Nurul said: “Arifur had attended a rally of the district Awami League on Tuesday. He went out again when some people called him out of the house at 3am on Wednesday.”
His body was found in the morning.
He said: “Some people had attacked Arifur over an internal feud in the party last year. Police on Tuesday detained Md Rashed, who was one of the accused, in a case filed regarding the attack.”
“I think my son might have been murdered over the feud of the arrest,” he added.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nasim Mia said the body has been sent to Lakshmipur sadar morgue.
“We are trying to catch the culprits,” he said.
