A driver of a covered van was killed, and his helper sustained burn injuries, when miscreants hurled petrol bombs at the van at Kansat of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj.
The deceased is Shipon, 30, son of Abdul Mannan of Bhola.
Quoting locals, Shibganj police OC MM Mainul Islam said miscreants hurled the bomb at the covered van of Nabiullah Cargo Service, when it arrived near the Kolabari area early Tuesday, leaving Shipon dead on the spot and his helper Shakil burnt.
On being informed, police went to the scene and recovered the body from the spot. Shakil was taken to Shibganj Health Complex, but later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
The body was sent to the Chapainawabganj sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, added the OC.
