A friendly badminton match between the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) team and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) team has been held on Monday afternoon.
Panchagarh 18, BGB Battalion organised the event inside Bangladesh on the Mirgarh border in Panchagarh sadar upazila near pillar 422/12-S, which was aimed at cementing a cordial relationship between the two border guard forces.
A 25-member BSF team led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kishanganj BSF Sector SK Panwar entered into the venue in Bangladesh through the border.
Sector Commander of Thakurgaon BGB Sector Colonel Md Akramul Haque received the Indian team by offering flower bouquets.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) team won the match in a 2-1 set.
Following the friendly match, a discussion was held ahead of the award ceremony.
The speakers said events like this friendly match are helpful for keeping a peaceful atmosphere in the border areas.
The two neighbouring border guards organise the event annually as a token of goodwill and to show a good-neighbourly attitude.
They said disputes can be resolved through discussion.
Both sides also expressed their eagerness to arrange a friendly match every year.
