The rail communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong has been cut off after a Chittagong-bound oil-laden train derailed near Rashidpur railway station in Habiganj.
Shayestaganj Railway Station Master Jahangir Alam said four compartments of the train veered off the track around 7am on Monday.
“The accident suspended Sylhet’s rail communications with Dhaka and Chittagong routes," he said.
The rescue operation would be started soon after a rescue train from Akhaura would arrive, added the official.
