7 vehicles torched in capital

At least seven vehicles have been torched allegedly by unknown miscreants in different places of the capital.

However, no casualty was reported during the attack, said police and fire service officials.

Witnesses and on-duty police informed that a vehicle of a private television channel was attacked with arson at around 6.45pm in Mouchak area on Saturday which was parked just opposite side of the television building.

On that time, several vehicles were vandalised while 4-5 crude bombs were blasted nearby the area.

However, during the same time, two covered-vans and a bus were torched in front of the Banana market of Jatrabari area while a private car was in Khilgaon and a bus was torched in Banani.

Fire Service and Civil Defense control room duty officer Bhajan Kumar Sarkar confirmed about the incidents to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “As soon as we heard news, our team rushed to all of the spot and took the fire under control.

“We did not find anyone injured so far” he added.

Ramna police station Sub-Inspector Shahidul said: “We have sent a team to the spot to investigate the matter.”
