3 of a family among 6 die in accidents

At least six people were killed in separate road accidents that took place in Narayanganj, Rajshahi, and Jaipurhat Friday.

In Narayanganj, four people, including a child, were killed and four others injured as a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw at Karnagop in Rupganj upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the morning.

Of the deceased, three were identified as Kader Miah, 65, Sweety Begum, wife of Sentu Miah, and their son Limon, 2 and the unidentified auto-rickshaw driver.

Police said a Dhaka-bound truck hit a Karimganj-bound auto-rickshaw, carrying some brick-kiln workers, from behind around 8am, leaving three people dead on the spot and five others injured.

Among the injured, one died on the way to the hospital, while the others were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

In Rajshahi, a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle left the driver of the motorcycle dead on the spot at Bagha upazila. The deceased is Saidur Rahman, 25, the son of Rais Uddin of Chandpur in Ishwardi.

Officer in-Charge of Bagha police station Aminur Rahman said Saidur was riding a motorcycle, and heading towards Rajshahi from Ishwardi, while the stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the motorcycle in Gangarampur area, leaving him dead on the spot.

In Joipurhat, one person was killed and another injured when a sand-loaded truck knocked a motorcycle at the crossing of Cadet College on Joypurhat-Mollagbari road in the morning.

The motorcycle rider, Abdus Sattar, 55, and bike passenger, Molin, 22, were seriously injured in the crash.

Both of them were taken to Joypurhat district hospital where the on- duty doctor declared Molin dead.
