Update : 24 Feb 2015, 01:15 PM

Ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League activists have erased the name of Mahmudur Rahman Manna from the honour board of Dhaka University of Central Students’ Union (DUCSU).

The BCL men also tore his picture which was also hung in the museum and burned it on Tuesday afternoon, accusing him of conspiring to oust the government.

When contacted, Joydev Nandi, vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League, said: “Manna has stigmatised the glory of Dhaka University as he plotted to create situation on the campus for killings that was leaked during conversation over telephone.”

“It is disgraceful for the highest education centre of the country to hang his picture at the DUCSU museum, So, the BCL men have burned his picture.”

Manna was former vice president of DUCSU in two terms in 1979 and 1980.

He is presently the convenor of Nagorik Oikya.

On Sunday, two audio clips of Manna were leaked: one where he spoke to Khoka, and another where he was heard speaking to an unidentified person – discussing about plans to meet army officers.

Manna was heard briefing Khoka, who has been living in the US for the last eight months, about his plans to bring out a march from National Press Club on February 23.

Following that, he reportedly advised Khoka to send his people to go in for a massive showdown at the Dhaka University.
