An eight-year-old handicapped girl has allegedly been raped by her relative on Sunday afternoon.
Kapasia police station Inspector (Investigation) Abul Kashem said the victim’s relative took her to the roof of an under-construction building around 12:45pm and raped her.
The girl informed her mother about the rape that very afternoon. Later, the victim’s father filed a rape case against the relative on Monday, he added.
The accused is the paternal uncle of the victim’s mother, the inspector said.
The victim was sent to Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for an examination. However, her parents confirmed police will carry out an examination on Tuesday instead of Monday, he said.
The medical examination report and investigation report will reveal the truth, the official said.
The victim’s father alleged the accused was trying to settle the matter locally, which delayed the case filing procedure.
