Canada is eager to establish a Dhaka-Toronto direct air link, as it wants to be a partner in the development process of the Bangladesh civil aviation sector.
Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoit Pierre Laramee made the statement when he called on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon at the latter's office on Monday, reports BSS.
The High Commissioner also expressed his government's willingness to be a partner in the development of the country's air ports and other infrastructures, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the civil aviation sector.
Lauding the ongoing progress in the socio-economic sector of Bangladesh, Laramee said the economic progress would help change the living standards of the people of Bangladesh.
Menon told the envoy the government is actively considering the construction of the Bangabandhu International Airport, aimed at making Bangladesh an important hub of Asian civil aviation.
