Update : 23 Feb 2015, 10:29 AM

The police have recovered the bullet-wounded bodies of two youths from a field at Defalbari village under the Sadar upazila in Jhenaidah. The deceased are Golam Azam alias Palas, 26, son of Ward 8 Commissioner and also BNP leader Golam Mostafa, and Dulal Biswas, 25, son of Nasim Biswas of Char-Khajura village.

District BNP Secretary Abdul Malek claimed the deceased were BNP activists. However, the police claimed they were members of Harkat-ul Jihad Al-Islami.

District Circle Assistant Police Superintendent Gopinath Kanzilal said: “On being informed, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.”

Dulal's brother Alal Biswas claimed that plainclothes members of the Detective Branch picked up his brother from Chuadanga bus stand on February 18.

Meanwhile, Palas’s father Golam claimed law enforcers also picked Palas up from the Das Mile area without any allegation the same day.

He said Palas’s mother filed a General Diary (GD) with the Sadar police station the next day.

The family members of both victims also claimed Dulal and Palas talked to their family members at midnight over the mobile phone, and informed them that they were in Jhenaidah DB police office.

Later, their mobile phones were found switched off. Jhenaidah Superintendent of Police Md Altaf Hossain said: “We suspect they were killed by miscreants.”
