Paturia launch capsize: Death toll climbs to 69
Death toll from the launch capsize on the Paturia-Daulatdia route of the Padma River has risen to 69.
MV Mostafa, which locals said was carrying around 200 passengers, capsized in the river after cargo trawler Nargis 1 broadsided it on Sunday afternoon.
Jabbar verdict Tuesday
A war crimes tribunal in Dhaka is set to deliver its verdict on Tuesday in a case against former Jatiya Party lawmaker Mohammad Abdul Jabbar.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, fixed the date on Monday morning.
4 youths 'lynched' in Mirpur
Four youths have allegedly been beaten to death by a mob while carrying out violence in the capital’s Mirpur area early Monday.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
Mirpur model police SI Masud Parvez said: “We have recovered three bodies from Kazipara area while the other from Darus Salam of Mirpur around 1:30am. They were beaten to death by the locals.”

The Edward Snowden documentary "Citizenfour" has won the Oscar for best documentary.
Laura Poitras' film documents her initial meeting in Hong Kong with Snowden, as well as journalist Glenn Greenwald. It's an uncommonly intimate view of what became a historic and much-debated act: Snowden leaking National Security Agency documents that revealed the previously undisclosed collection of Americans' phone and email records.
Ukraine fears spread of war after blast in eastern city
Ukraine said on Sunday it feared unrest could spread beyond territory held by pro-Russian separatists, after an explosion killed two people at a memorial rally in an eastern city far from the front line.
Kiev said it arrested four people who had been armed and trained in Russia after the blast, which killed a policeman and a demonstrator at the rally in Kharkiv, the biggest city in the east, 200 km (125 miles) from the war zone.
Australia to toughen citizenship law
Australia will toughen its citizenship laws as part of a new anti-terrorism strategy to combat rising threats, PM Tony Abbott has announced.
He said citizenship for dual nationals involved in terrorism could be suspended or even revoked.
