A war crimes tribunal in Dhaka is set to deliver its verdict on Tuesday in a case against former Jatiya Party lawmaker Mohammad Abdul Jabbar.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, fixed the date on Monday morning.
The prosecution has brought five war crime charges against Jabbar.
The accused, chairman of the local unit of the Peace Committee during the 1971 Liberation War, has been a fugitive since 2009.
On July 8, the tribunal appointed Mohammad Abul Hassan as counsel to defend the accused fugitive.
On May 12, the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against Jabbar, a former Jatiya Party MP, after taking the charges into cognisance.
Jabbar, 82, faces allegations of murder, genocide, forced conversion, and looting during the war.
