Accidents across country kill 6

Six people have been killed between Friday and Sunday across the country in different road accidents.

An unidentified man was killed and three others injured in a road accident in Munshiganj on Friday.

According to Selim Mia, officer-in-charge at Hatinmara Police Station said the man died when a Tongibari-bound CNG auto-rickshaw fell into a pond after being hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction.

The injured – Sujon, 32, Babul, 45, and Tajul Islam 25 were admitted to Munshiganj General Hospital while police have seized the truck although its driver had managed to flee the scene.

In Daripara area of Gazipur’s Kaliganj, an unidentified woman was killed yesterday in a train accident.

Narshingdi Railway police recovered her body at 11am yesterday and sent it to a local hospital for autopsy.

In charge Superintendent (SI) at Narshingdi Railway outpost said the woman, presumably around 35 years old, died while trying to cross the rail-line and was hit by an oncoming train, which killed her on the spot. Her head and face have been smashed and different parts of her body have come apart.”

Similarly, a health field worker in Jaipurhut was killed when, upon trying to embark a train, he slipped and fell. The accident cut both his legs off and when he was taken to the local hospital, the doctors announced him dead.

Police sources say Dalil Uddin, 55, was hurriedly trying to embark a train that was about to leave when he fell.

In Chittagong, two persons were killed Saturday when two CNG-run auto-rickshaws collided head-on on the Chittagong-Khagrachari road.

The deceased were identified as Md Idris, 45, and Md Osman Ali, 55,  said Nayek Himidur Rahman of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Police Outpost.

Nayek said a Hathazari upazila-bound CNG crashed with another CNG coming from the opposite direction at Kathirhat area of Hathazari around 10pm, leaving two critically injured.

They were then rushed to CMCH where the on-duty doctors announced them dead.

In Daudkandi of Comilla, a five-year-old boy was killed on Sunday upon being crushed by sand-laden truck.

Mohammad Ali was the son of late Liton Mia of Doiapara village, came under the truck when the truck lost control and skidded to the side, crushing the boy and killing him on the spot, according to locals. They also said the driver of the truck has fled the scene.
