A young man has reportedly shot dead by the Indian Khasi tribal people in the border area along Jumgaon under Dowarabajar upazila in Sunamganj.
The deceased is identified as Harris Ali (25), son of Bhulu Mia, of the upazila.
Locals said he was shot after he entered the orange orchard of the Khasi people on the other side of the border.
Lt Col Ghulam Mohiuddin Khondakar, commander of BGB-8 in Sunamganj, said Harris died after he returned Bangladesh being shot by the Khasi people of the area for entering their orchard.
OC Salim Newaz of Dowarabazar said his body was brought to the police station and later sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
