Two people sustained splinter injuries in a crude bomb blast yesterday in Chittagong. It was alleged that they were carrying the bombs. The incident took place at Segunbagan area of Pahartali under Khulshi Police Station in the city after noon.
The injured, Monir Hossen, 35, and Shah Alam Monu, 30, were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Nayek Hamidur Rahaman of CMCH Police Outpost.
Sukanto Chawkrabarty, inspector (investigation) of Khulshi Police Station, said a crude bomb went off inside a brick and sand shop named Jamal Enterprise, within 200 yard of the Pahartali Degree College, in Segunbagan, Khulshi at around 1pm, leaving the two injured.
Monu is son of Jamal Hossain, the owner of the shop, said Inspector Sukanto. During primary investigation police found that the duo were allegedly carrying the crude bombs meant for subversive activities when the bomb went off, said the police official adding that the injured were admitted at CMCH under police custody after the incident.
