1 killed in Hazaribagh explosion

At least one person has been killed and another critically injured in an explosion in the capital's Hazaribagh area on Thursday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased and the reason behind the explosion could not be known immediately.

In-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost Inspector Mozzammel Haque said: “The explosion took place around 4:30pm. The police suspect it might have occurred while the victims were making hand bombs.”

“The police are investigating the matter.”

Immediately after the explosion, two people were rushed to DMCH, where one was declared dead, added the official.

The injured Raju Hossain, 25, has been admitted to the hospital. However, he is not in a condition to give a statement about the blast, said the police.
