Twelve people have received burns, and three others sustained minor injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at a lighter factory under Pall Mall Group in Ashulia's Charabagh area on Thursday evening.
Of the injured, four are Hasina, Mitu, Reshma, and Surma.
Ashulia police station OC Mostafa Kamal said: “Twelve labourers of Pall Mall Gas Match Factory received severe burns, as a gas cylinder exploded there around 6:30pm. Three other people also sustained minor injuries in the incident.”
“The burn victims were taken to Enam Medical College Hospital immediately after the explosion, while two others have been admitted at a local clinic. The condition of one victim is stated to be critical.”
The OC added that the factory also caught fire after the explosion, but the factory staff managed to put it out immediately after it originated.
