The US embassy in Kabul in a premature tweet congratulated the Afghan team for their win over Bangladesh in Afghanistan's debut match in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
The embassy made the tweet in excitement, mid-way through the Bangladesh innings, reports the Times of India.
The US embassy's official Twitter account posted a message hailing Afghanistan's "victory," which triggered a flood of sarcastic retorts about Americans in Kabul prematurely declaring victory.
Apologising for the premature tweet, the embassy again tweeted regarding their support of the Afghan team.
Incidentally, the match is still going on and ironically Bangladesh at this moment is on top, and has won the match.
