The Supreme Court has released the full text of its verdict, awarding death penalty to Jamaat-e-Islami leader and eath-row war criminal, Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
The apex court headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha published the 579-page judgement after all the judges signed the court order on Wednesday.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam will brief the media over the issue around 2:30pm.
On May 9, 2013 the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Kamaruzzaman to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
He appealed against the judgement after a month.
On November 3, 2014, the Appellate Division upheld the death penalty.
Kamaruzzaman was shifted to Dhaka Central Jail from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur the next day.
He was an al-Badr leader in 1971. He was also a top leader of the greater Mymensingh Islami Chhatra Sangha, the then student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, and was also the office secretary of East Pakistan Islami Chhatra Sangha.
