Freedoms fighters (FFs) at a human chain arranged at Panchagarh district town yesterday termed the blockade and hartal of the BNP-Jamaat-led 20 party alliance as non-ethical and demanded for stopping violence, killing and anarchy.
They also demanded for establishing peace through immediately stopping terrorism, militancy, torching vehicles and killing of innocent people by hurling petrol bombs and hindering SSC examinations in the name of democratic political movement.
Panchagarh Sadar upazila unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad (BMS) organised the human chain in front of the Shaheed Minar after bringing out protest procession in the sub-Himalayan town demanding for withdrawal of blockade, hartal and shunning voice.
Commander of Panchagarh district unit of BMS Mirja Abul Kalam presided over the human chain participated by hundreds of freedom fighters, socio-cultural and political leaders and activists, professionals, civil society members and local elite.
Former Commander of Panchagarh district unit of BMS SM Liyakat Ali, President of Sadar upazila Awami League (AL) Amirul Islam, district JSD President and valiant freedom fighter Abdul Mazid Babul, President of Muktijoddha Sanghati Abdul Kader, addressed.
Commander of Panchagarh Sadar upazila unit of BMS Ismail Hossain, AL leader Rabi Mahmud, Panchagarh Sadar upazila chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat and valiant freedom fighter Abul Hossain also addressed the programme.
The speakers strongly condemned the illogical blockade and hartal of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, violence, killing of innocent people, hurling patrol bombs, uprooting rail lines, hindering SSC examinations, destroying economy and subversive activities.
They said the BNP-Jamaat-Shibir terrorists have been trying to destabilise the country and playing with the lives and properties of the common people and time has come for uprooting roots of the terrorists once for all involving the common people.
They called upon the pro-liberation forces and common people for thwarting the terrorism, militancy, anarchy, violence and killing of innocent citizens through hurling petrol bombs and destructions to ensure peace.
The speakers called for taking necessary stern actions against terrorists and militants who have been creating anarchy and killing innocent people by hurling petrol bombs and subversive activities in the name of political movements.
They urged the government to further intensify the anti-terrorism and anti-militancy drives involving the common people to ensure safety and security of every citizen and bring back peace and normalcy in every sector to save the national economy.
