A faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Chittagong University (CU) has locked the main gate of the university, administrative building and proctor office following an internal clash over establishing supremacy on campus.
The shuttle train-based faction, known as Varsity Express (VX), led by Ogranising Secretary SM Ariful Islam drove the students away from Shahjajal Hall early Sunday and locked the hall gate.
OC Ismail Hossain of Hathazari police station told the Dhaka Tribune that the activists of Varsity Express and CFC, another BCL faction, locked in a clash in the early hours and locked the main gate of the university.
Upon receiving information, the police went to the spot and dispersed them to bring the situation under control.
Additional police were deployed in the area to avoid further untoward situation, added the OC.
