Speakers at a human chain before Chittagong Press Club yesterday opined that BNP-Jamaat activists have been running criminal activities across the country under the guise of political activities.
Protesting the countrywide sabotage acts and violence, a human chain and a protest rally organised by Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) were held, where Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul was present as the chief guest.
“Innocent people got killed by petrol bombs in the dark of nights. Human rights are being violated in the name of their (political parties) voting rights. We cannot accept this as a professional and conscious citizen of the country,” said Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul.
He also said: “We are not against the politics. But the parties who are conducting violence in the name of their political programme have to take the responsibilities of the violence. We have to tear out the ugly politics.”
The other speakers said the countrymen were taking streets protesting the ill political motive of BNP-Jamaat.
The speakers suggested that the political parties should practise political activities in systematic way.
CUJ President presided over the programme where BFUJ Vice-President Abu Taher Mohammad, Joint Secretary General Asif Siraz, CUJ Vice-President Ratan Kanti Debashish and General Secretary Hasan Ferdous spoke among other journalist leaders.
