Petrol bomb burns 11 in Feni, Netrakona; police outpost attacked in Maijdee

At least 11 people, including a trucker and his helper, suffered burn injuries in separate petrol bomb attacks in Feni and Netrakona districts on Tuesday night.

In another incident, a police member was injured by a crude bomb as the bomb was hurled to the police outpost situated at the ShahidullahKaysar road of Feni.

In Feni, nine people, including a woman, were burned as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the Noakhali-bound bus at Chironia Bazar on Feni-Noakhali road in Daganbhuiyanupazila around 9pm, said Additional police super of Feni, SaidulHaque .

Badly injured, a woman named Mohsena, 40 was whisked off to Sadar Hospital while the rest were taken to DaganbhuiyanUpazila Health Complex, Residence medical officer of FeniSadar Hospital, AshimSaha told to the Dhaka Tribune.

Of the injured MonirHossain, 35, Milon, 33 from BaruraComilla, Belal Ahmed, 63, BelalHosain 60, AbdusSobhan, 50 from CompanyganjNoakhlai, Sabuj 24 from Dagaonvuan was identified.

Medical officer, Ashim also informed that a police member named SaidulHaq, 38 was admitted in the hospital with the hospital and 4 splinters were recovered from his body. He was in the police outpost situated at the ShahidullahKaysar road of Feni.

Meanwhile, a truck driver – Ashraful, 35, and his helper Sohagh, 30, – sustained burn injuries after miscreants tossed a petrol bomb at the vehicle on Durgapur-Netrakona road at Birishiri Bridge in Durgagpurupazila of Netrakona around 9pm.

The injured were first taken to Durgapur Health Complex where doctors refereed them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, as their condition was critical.

The attacks come a day after the government decided to stop plying long-route buses on highways after 9 pm to avoid any attack during the ongoinghartal and blockade.

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed claimed yesterday that the government has apparently acknowledged its “non-existence” by deciding not to ply long-haul passenger buses on highways after 9 pm.
