The police have arrested the district unit Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul khaleque on Sunday.
The former parliament member, who is wanted in more than 20 cases, was picked up from Boikari Bazar under the Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
Satkhira Police Super Manjurul Kabir said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of the police arrested him.”
The police said he has been arrested for his involvement in several numbers of subversive activities in Satkhira, a strong hold of Jamaat.
Satkhira is a “vulnerable” district where the joint forces cracked down on violence after the January 5 parliamentary elections.
