Two persons have been killed in separate "shootouts" with the law enforcers in Jessore and Comilla districts early Sunday.
Deceased Raju alias Bhaipo Raju, 22; and Shopon Mia alias Kala Shopon, 37. Both were accused in several cases including murder case.
Jessore camp Commanding Officer of RAB Major Ashraf Uddin said Raju was detained on Saturday night.
"Upon Raju's confession that he had firearms in his possession, RAB went to recover the arms taking him along with the law enforcers," he said.
The RAB official said Raju's associates opened fire on them when they reached Ishmam Petrol Pumb around 5am on Sunday. "In retaliation, the RAB members fired back that triggered a gunfight."
He said Raju was shot in the "gunfight". He was taken to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Our Comilla correspondent reported that Jubo League activist Shopon Mia was killed in a "shootout" with police in Bhatpara area of sadar (south) upazila early Sunday.
Comilla sadar (south) OC Proshanto Paul said: "Shopon was arrested on Saturday morning. His associates attacked police when the law enforcers went to recover arms taking Shopon along with them."
In retaliation, police fired back that triggered a "gunfight" and Shopon was injured with bullet.
"Doctors at Comilla Medical College Hospital declared Shopon dead when taken to the hospital," he added.
