Mobile operator Robi has offered free internet of daily 5 megabit each to its 30,000 subscribers who will use Opera Mini browser.
The operator made the announcement at a joint press conference with Opera Mini yesterday in the city.
“A total of 30,000 users of Robi will get chance to enjoy free 5MB internet browsing daily through Opera Mini,” said Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, chief operating officer of Robi.
“We are very confident that our users will be able to experience quality internet service over our strong 3.5G network across the country,” he added.
To take advantage of the free internet offer, Robi users will only need to open Opera Mini browser on their handsets and click on the “Free Internet Coupon” icon.
This will open the activation page from where users can activate the 5MB Free Internet Coupon, sponsored by Bikroy.com, the largest marketplace in Bangladesh.
Robi users who do not already have the Opera Mini browser installed on their phones can visit m.opera.com to download this free app.
In addition to the Free Internet Coupon, in future Robi users will be able to purchase affordable Robi Internet Coupons through the Opera Mini browser.
This purchase method is easy to understand and is very convenient for Robi subscribers.
While accessing the internet, users can purchase and activate these affordable data packs from within the browser, so they can continue surfing with Opera Mini.
Sunil Kamath, vice president of Opera Software, South Asia, said: “We hope to see all Robi users browsing the web, sharing pictures, commenting on social media, reading email and doing even more on the web with the Free Internet Coupon.”
Users of almost all kind of phones, from basic Java phones to the latest Android and iOS smartphones, can surf the web using the Opera Mini app.
Opera Mini’s unique compression technology shrinks web pages to as little as 10% of their original size.
This powerful compression means that Opera Mini users can browse much more within a set data limit, compared to those using other mobile browsers.
