15 houses torched in Brahmanbaria clash

Fifteen houses and shops have been torched in a clash between two groups of villagers over land dispute at Rajghar village under the sadar upazila in Brahmanbaria.

Thirty people have been injured in the clash.

Police also detained five people in connection with the clash.

Sadar police OC Akul Chandra Biswas said the clash started around 7am on Monday. The injured were admitted to local health complex.

Quoting the locals, he said: “The was a longstanding land dispute between former UP chairman Abdur Rouf and Advocate Ali Azam of the village.”

As a sequel of the enmity, supporters from the both groups, equipped with lethal weapons, engaged into the clash that left 30 people injured.

Being informed police went to the spot and took the situation under control.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avoid further untoward situation, added the OC.
