Update : 01 Feb 2015, 08:27 AM

A victim of an arson attack on a bus in capital's Jatrabari area has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased is Nur Alam.

Partha Sankar Pal, resident physician of DMCH burn unit told the Dhaka Tribune that Nur Alam died around 1pm on Sunday.

At least 15 people have received burns after miscreants set a passenger bus afire in the capital's Jatrabari area on January 23.

BNP chief Khaleda Zia has been named mastermind in a case filed over the arson attack.

Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were burnt and attacked during the ongoing non-stop blockade.

Blockade-related violence has killed at least 40 people over the last few weeks.

The BNP-led 20-party alliance has been enforcing a nationwide roads and waterways blockade since January 5, protesting BNP chief Khaleda Zia's confinement.

Khaleda Zia had been kept confined to her Gulshan party office since January 3. Later on January 12, the barricades were removed from in front of her political office.

However, she declared to continue the blockade until further announcement.
