4 killed in Munshiganj road accident

Four people were dead, and two others injured in an accident when a truck squashed two CNG-run auto-rickshaws and one a rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Jamaldi bus stand under Gazaria upazila, Munshiganj, on Friday afternoon.

The deceased are auto-rickshaw passenger Anchalee Rani Saha, 52, of Nadiabad village under Debiddar upazila of Comilla, and her son Pratyaya Saha, 12, a student of class five, CNG drivers Kalu Mia, 38, of local Baluakandi village, and Montu Mia, 40, from Chuadanga district.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Police and witnesses said the Comilla bound truck carrying corns suddenly lost its control and fell on two CNGs and a rickshaw that were standing near Jamaldi bus stand.

Munshiganj ASP ABM Masud Hossain said the truck and CNGs were removed aside with a wrecker. The movement of traffic in the high way remained normal.

Relatives received the body of Kalu Mia from the spot; rest of the corpses are in the Voberchar police camp.
