The government has decided to appoint two consultant firms for drawing up another 20-year plan to ensure Detailed Area Plan(DAP) of Dhaka city under Dhaka Metropolitan Development Plan Area Project.
Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase meeting approved the public work ministry's proposal for appointing two firms on Wednesday afternoon. Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meeting.
After the meeting, Joint Secretary Mustafizur Rahman briefed the reporters at the secretariat.
He said the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) is preparing the fresh DAP covering an area of over 1,500 square kilometres at an estimated cost of Tk33 crore for 2016 to 2035 period as the tenure of the current DAP expires this year.
Purchase committee approved the proposal of Rajuk for appointing a joint venture of Sheltech (Pvt) Limited and The Decode Limited which will prepare DAP for 753 square kilometre area while The Development Design Consultant Limited will work for 764 square kilometres, diving the Dhaka city with a line drawn along the New Airport Road.
He said the government will spend a total of Tk25.99 crore for appointing the two consultant firms. These two firms will get Tk12.5 crore each.
At present DAP suggested reclaiming over 2,500 acres of flood flow zones and agriculural land from the grip of illegal property developers and relocation of 3000 industries and scrapping of 16 development project.
The first DAP was finalised twice and published in a gazette in June 2010.
