A Jamaat activist has been killed in a "gunfight" with police in Rajshahi.
Deceased Nurul Islam Shahin, 45, was also a teacher of Islamia College and owner of Padma off-sheet printing press.
Rajshahi city unit Jamaat secretary Jahangir Alam said Nurul Islam was an activist of the party and former president of party's ward no 30.
Assistant Commissioner Iftekhayer Alam of city DB Police said Nurul Islam was injured in a "gunfight" with police early Wednesday.
"He succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital," he added.
Nurul Islam's brother Fazlul Haque Tuhin alleged that DB police picked up his brother from his press around 9pm on Tuesday.
He said when they contacted the DB police office, they were informed that Nurul Islam would be released on Wednesday morning.
Later, they got a call from RMCH in the morning informing them that Nurul's body was at the hospital.
