Sumaiya Anjum Mithila recently won the title of Channel i Veet Top Model 2014, beating four other finalists and thousands of others scouted across the country. In a conversation with the Dhaka Tribune, the new face of Veet Top Model talked about her life after winning the title, future aspirations and much more.
How did winning one of the most compelling pageants in the country feel like? “I was overwhelmed.” Mithila said. “It was my dream to win the crown. I really cannot describe how I felt after I won.”
All credits for her success goes to her mother, she claimed. “My mother inspires me to reach towards my goals and gives me strength when I stumble. She motivated me to work hard and keep my eyes on the prize.”
She thinks winning the competition made her way into the world of showbiz smoother. “If I had tried to step into the showbiz world another way, I would have to struggle. But I reckon winning this pageant made things easier for me.
“Taking part in this competition was no easy work. We went through two and a half months of extensive grooming sessions before we were able to take part in the final stage of the competition,” she added.
Mithila is interested in modelling too, and Tania Ahmed and Nobel are her modelling icons.
Asked about her preferred clothing style, she said: “I think Western attire suits me; more importantly, I feel comfortable in Western clothes.”
Though she is excited about having access to the world of showbiz, Mithila believes she should take some time before stepping into the film industry. She is preparing herself for what she considers a challenge; however, she is already making her small screen debut, with a Valentine’s Day special TV play.
She said, for now, she is focusing on her forthcoming venture, concentrating on how she could make her performance acceptable to the audience in her debut acting endeavour.
