Journalist Ali Ashraf passes away

Veteran Journalist Khandker Ali Ashraf has died on Tuesday afternoon at his residence in the capital's Uttara.

Tuesday was his 80th birthday, family sources said, reports BSS.

He has been suffering from old age complications since long, they added.

Ashraf is survived by two sons and host of relatives to mourn his death.

His namaj-e-janaza was held at Uttara Mosque and laid to rest at Uttara graveyard.

Ali Ashraf had spent most of the time of his life as the Assistant Editor of now defunct Dainik Bangla. Later, he joined as Senior Assistant Editor to the Daily Jugantor.

Apart from journalism, he worked as part-time teacher at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism in Dhaka University.

He wrote several books on newspapers of Bangladesh and journalism.
