Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader has said the first tender for the construction of the 20km metro rail route will be invited on January 31.
The minister made the statement while briefing the journalists at the secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
He also said the construction work of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project would begin this December.
Earlier on Monday, the Parliament passed an amended form of the Metro Rail Bill, 2015 in a bid to help curb traffic jam in the capital with providing quick and modern transport service to the commuters.
