A robber has been killed in a "gunfight" with police at Begaritola under Monirampur upazila in Jessore.
The deceased is Mahbur Rahman, 35, son of Motalet Sardar of Shaymnagar village.
Three police officers including Additional Police Super KM Ariful Haque have been injured in the "gunfight".
Police recovered a revolver and six rounds of bullets from the spot.
Additional Police Super Reshma Sharmin said a police team was patrolling on Monirampur-Keshabpur road on Monday night. Robbers hurled crude bombs at the police team when they stopped there after noticing a tree was cut down on the road.
Police fired nine rounds of bullets that left one of the robbers injured. However, other robber managed to flee the scene.
Police taken the injured robber to upazila health complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
ASP Reshma said: "Mahbur was a member of inter-district robbers' gang. He was accused in 19 cases filed in several districts."
