Another arson victim dies at DMCH

Another victim of arson attack during the BNP-led 20-party alliance blockade has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Truck driver Bakul,35, suffered burn injuries in an arson attack on his vehicle in Sylhet on January 20.

He succumbed to his injures around 6:30am on Tuesday, DMCH police outpost In-charge Mozammel Hoque said.

Miscreants torched a sand-laden truck by hurling a petrol bomb in Bagher Sorok area on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet district on January 20. Truck driver Bakul and his helper Kibria were critically injured in the arson attack.

They were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Later, Bakul was shifted to the burn unit of DMCH as his condition deteriorated on January 23.

The BNP-led 20-party alliance has been observing countrywide roads and waterways blockade for indefinite period since January 5.

Blockade-related violence has killed at least 35 people over the last few weeks.

Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were burnt and attacked.

The BNP chairperson called the non-stop blockade on January 5 after she was barred from coming out of her Gulshan office.
