5 injured in Chittagong clash over land feud

At least a man was shot and four others got injuries during a clash between listed criminal Kirich Babul and locals at Masterpul area under Bakalia police station in Chittagong city on Monday over dispute regarding ownership of a school’s land.

The shot injured, Emon, 13, worker of Al Madina Press, resident of the area, was admitted into Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali circle) Shah Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

He said Kirich Babul along with his cohorts went to occupy the school’s land in the morning while the locals obstructed them.

At one stage of the confrontation, both the groups locked into a clash at the area where Babul’s men opened gunshots to the locals, leaving Emon bullet-hit and four minor injured, he also said.

Receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and took control over the situation within a short time, he added.

Later, they raided Babul’s residence in the area but found nothing, the AC further added.

Kirich Babul is a top terrorist according to the CMP’s list and he is accused in many cases filed in different police stations.
