The rail communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong has been cut off after a Dhaka-bound train derailed near Paghachang railway station in Brahmanbaria.
Assistant Master Moinul Haq of Brahmanbaria Railway Station confirmed the incident of derailment.
He said: "Some compartments of Joyontika Express veered off the tracks around 2:10pm on Sunday."
However, he could not confirm the number of the derailed compartments.
Locals said at least six compartments were derailed.
