Update : 24 Jan 2015, 06:42 PM

Young Bangla – a platform for different youth organisations of the country held its first ever divisional meet in Chittagong yesterday to collect resumes in order to place them for internship in three ministries of the government.

First-of-its-kind, the platform built by different young lawmakers, social workers and entrepreneurs, will select 500 people aged between 18 and 35 from all across the country.

“Three ministries: Ministry of Information and Technology, Ministry of Power and Energy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have agreed to offer internship opportunities to the selected candidates,” said Nahim Razzak, convener of the Young Bangla.

It is an opportunity for the young to work directly with the government in order to meet the goal of “Vision 2021,” he said.

Young Bangla will play a significant role in building Digital Bangladesh, said the conveners at the divisional meet held at Chittagong’s DC Hill yesterday.

With the slogan “tomar joy e Banglar joy,” the programme highlighted that Bangladesh possesses around 4 crore people aged from 18-35 and Young Bangla will coordinate among them.

Nahim Razzak said the platform will select 30 youths among the selected 500 based on their social works and award them at a ceremony titled “Joy Bangla Festival” to be held on March 7.

From the 30, top 10 contestants will be screened for competing in this year’s Top Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP), a competition to recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and exemplify best attributes of the world’s young people.

Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mesbah Uddin was present at the programme, among others.
