Bangladesh is observing countrywide mourning with the national flag half-hoisted at the demise of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.
"The national flag will fly at half-mast at all government and private buildings including government, semi-government and autonomous offices, educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad during the state mourning," said a government official handout issued on Friday, reports BSS. Special doa will be held at all mosques across the country seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the late King, while special prayers will be held other places of the worships. A special doa and munajat will take place at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Zohr prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the Saudi King, an Islamic Foundation press release said. President Md Abdul Hamid will fly to Riyadh on the same day to offer condolences and sympathy on behalf of Bangladesh, the handout said. King Abdullah, believed to be around 90 years old, died at 1:00 am Saudi time (2200 GMT) on Friday. After his death, Abdullah's half-brother Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 79, has ascended to the throne.
