Two people have died as two trawlers capsized in Sitalakkhya river after a head-on collision at Kawrait union of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur.
Of the deceased, one was identified as Sabekun Nahar, daughter of Ashraf Uddin Sheikh.
Member of Kawrait union parishad's ward 9 Jashim Uddin Mir told the Dhaka Tribune locals recovered two bodies from the river.
However, the UP member previously confirmed the Dhaka Tribune that the death tool was three.
Later, he said he noticed two bodies and heard about the third one from a local.
Relatives of the deceased took away the bodies to their respective houses.
"The accident took place around 12:45pm when a Trimohoni-bound trawler collided head-on with a Bormi-bound trawler. Both the trawlers sank in the river following the collision," said the UP member.
