A section of students of Chittagong University (CU) has demanded the immediate arrest and capital punishment of the killers of Tapos Sarkar, who was shot dead at CU’s Shah Amanat Hall on December 14.
Some 30 students formed a human chain under the banner of “Bangabandhu Sangbadikota Chhatra Parishad” in front of the Chittagong Press Club premises at around 3:30pm on Thursday.
At the human chain, the students blamed the CU authorities for the murder and criticised administration’s role as they failed to arrest the killers of Tapos despite passing more than one month after the murder.
They also demanded to hand over the case to the Detective Branch (DB) of police for fair investigation.
Tapos Sarkar, a 1st year student of Sangskrit Department of CU also an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of CU unit, was shot dead by his rival men during a turf war between two groups of BCL on December 14 on the campus.
Police filed two cases with Hathazari police station following the murder, said campus sources.
