Dhaka University Teacher’s Association (Duta) demanded exemplary punishment to the people who are involved in arson, vandalism and killing of people during the ongoing countrywide blockade and hartals enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
They also demanded government's steps to arrest the culprits.
The Dhaka University teachers raised the demands at a human chain programme at the Aparajeyo Bangla on the university campus on Thursday.
The Duta organised the human chain protesting the recent attacks on people, public transport and law enforcers.
Speaking on the occasion, Duta President Prof Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed said Khaleda Zia was hatching conspiracy to make Bangladesh a failed state.
“But her [Khaleda] dream will not come true,” he said.
Duta General Secretary Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Prof AJM Shafiul Alam Buyain, Prof Ziaur Rahman, Prof Azizur Rahman and Prof ABM Faruq were present at the human chain.
