Despite the almost constant political turmoil, Bangladesh’s economy continues to perform remarkably well, January 2015 update - a British House of Commons Library Standard Note suggests.
While there remain many challenges ahead, good progress has also been made on social development, it also says.
The update, titled as “Political crisis in Bangladesh: January 2015 update,” was published in the UK parliament website on Wednesday.
Most sections of the note draw extensively on the International Crisis Group’s monthly summary of events in Bangladesh, where the recent political scene was described as “remains as turbulent as ever.”
It observes, in recent weeks, the political hostilities have further intensified.
However, it reminded the UK and US governments’ and EU's concern over the ongoing violence.
